As reported this week in the San Diego Reader, I was able to secure an excellent resolution to a years-long dispute between my client and the City of Imperial Beach over code compliance issues. This resulted in nearly $14,000.00 in fines and fees charged to my client being entirely eliminated. Check out the article for more information.
While Imperial Beach does appear to have some difficulty with selective enforcement issues, at the most recent City Counsel meeting the counselmembers and mayor suggested that some changes may be in the works to address those problems. We’ll be watching closely to see how things may be changing in the months and years to come.
In the meantime, do you have thoughts on the outrageous fines that can sometimes be levied for relatively minor code compliance issues? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
